Blues for Alix is, obviously, a blues number: it starts with a bass introduction phrase, and then the other instruments join in and produce a relaxed, nostalgic, even sad feeling albeit one of great emotional intensity. Again, Nathalie takes the first solo on the clarinet, building up to a crescendo. Then Mark improvises on the piano, Aldridge’s implacable drums always in the background, in constant activity. Agustín takes a solo next, revealing why he is one of the most famous
bass players in the country. After almost ten minutes, tranquility comes back with
the initial theme.
